  Linda Whaley Profile PhotoLinda Yarbrough Whaley, 76, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024 at North Mississippi Medical Center Hospice in Tupelo. The daughter of Lamar and Ruby Turner Yarbrough, she was born in Columbus on December 23, 1947. She had lived in Huntsville, AL and worked in health care as an office manager. In declining health, Linda moved back to Amory and began working at Amory Methodist ELC where she was known as “mawmaw” to all the children. After her retirement, she enjoyed working in her yard keeping it in immaculate condition and she loved anything outdoors; but most of all her family was most important to her and she cherished being able to watch her grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. She was a very talented singer, and she loved her dogs, Abby, Bella, and Sadie.

 Funeral services will be at 12 noon on Monday, July 22, 2024 at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Dave Johnson officiating. Committal services will be at 2:15 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Columbus.

She is survived by two daughters, Kim Norris (Mitch), Amory and Becky Gregory (Paul), Amory; one brother, Jeff Yarbrough, Columbus; grandchildren, Josh Norris, Leah Beth Gunter (Thad), Rachel Sargent (Brandon), Jessica Johnson (Dave), Amanda Sloan (Lane), and Emjaii Gregory; great grandchildren, Rynn Gunter, Rivers Gunter, Sydney Sargent, Briley Sargent, Whaley Sargent, Hunter Johnson, Kylei Gregory, Aiden Gregory, Everett Gregory, and Adie Rae Ruth.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Steve Yarbrough; son, Tommy Whaley, Jr.; and grandparents, Grover and Geneva Turner.

Pallbearers will be Josh Norris, Thad Gunter, Brandon Sargent, Dave Johnson, Lane Sloan, and Rivers Gunter.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the service hour.

Memorials may be made to LeBonheur Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN.
