Linda Wates age 75 of Guin, AL passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2025 in the Diversicare Nursing Home in Winfield, AL.
Born May 6, 1950 in Hamilton, AL, she is the daughter of the late Ralph James and Doris Rosa Sullins Powless and the wife of the late Lynn Wates. She had lived in Guin most of her life and loved working in her garden. She received an Associate’s Degree in Accounting from Northwest Alabama Community College. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church in Guin where she also taught Children’s Sunday School.
She is survived by a Daughter, Gina Wates, a Son, Greg Wates (Victoria), 5 Grandchildren and several Great Grandchildren, and a Brother, James Ralph Powless.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her Husband, Lynn Wates, and a Daughter, Joy Amanda Wates.
Services held Friday, October 17, 2025 at 11:00 AM from the Veal Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with burial in the Guin City Cemetery. Bro. Mark Maddox officiating.
