Linda Lee Barkley, 70, of Florence passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at her residence. Visitation will be from 12-2 p.m. on Sunday at Elkins Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2p.m. with Rev. Henry Melton officiating. Burial will be in Tri-Cities Memory gardens.
After graduating from Coffee High School in 1962, Linda worked for many years at Kaleidoscope Florist. Her most recent and favorite job was at the Florence Walmart in the Overnight Jewelry Department. She was a member of Faith Church. Linda’s greatest love was her family, but she also loved going to church, cookouts, and summertime around the pool. She enjoyed working with her flowers and watching hummingbirds.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Billy G. Barkley; sons, William “Brent” Barkley (Brenda) and David Laine Barkley; grandchildren, Chance, Starr and Taylor; sister, Jeannie Hammond; brother, Bobby Walker (Rosalie); and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Ruth Walker and a sister, Mildred “Penny” Thorne.
Pallbearers will be Lee Walker, John Henry Walker, Chance Barkley, Aaron Myrick, Brandon Best, and Gilbert Barga. Honorary Pallbearers will be Steve Bright and Jordan Eddy.
Special thanks are given to Dr. Pearl Govea, and hospice nurse, Deborah Robertson who was so precious to Linda and her family.
