Linda Joyce Wray Carter

  Linda Joyce Wray Carter of Toney passed away on Tuesday.  She was 83.

Linda grew up in the Somerville area of Morgan County and graduated from Priceville High School.  In 1961, she married the love of her life, AJ Carter at the preacher’s home in Hartselle with her mom standing with them as a witness.  She worked with the Henderson National Bank and then with the Huntsville City Schools Child Nutrition Program.  She enjoyed traveling with her husband, especially to Pigeon Forge.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ermon & Dovia Wray; Her brothers-in-law, Ralph “Nick” Carter and Tommy Carter; She was also preceded in death by several other brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law who she loved.

Surviving family members include her husband of 62 years, AJ Carter; her sister-in-law, Pam (Doug) Hensley;  her sister-in-law, Hilda Hethcoat;  her brother-in-law, Alton (Kay) Carter;  her brother-in-law, Donald (Evelyn) Carter;  She is also survived by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be Friday at 2pm at Hazel Green Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home beginning at Noon.  Burial will follow the service and will be in Madison Cross Roads Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be Alton Carter, Douglas Hensley, Johnny Carter, Carlos Carter, Ricky Elliff, and Scott Gwin.
