Funeral for Linda Jane Richie Melson, 69, of Decatur, will be Sunday, September 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Alan Compton officiating. The family will receive friends today from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mrs. Melson died Thursday, August 29, 2013, at Decatur Morgan Hospital Parkway Campus. She was born November 15, 1943, in Colbert County to Carl Richie and Margie Ballentine Richie.
She is survived by her loving husband, Rabon B. Melson; one daughter, Marsha Milam of Decatur; two brothers, David Richie of Decatur and Ronnie Richie of Parrish; and one granddaughter, Heather Milam Casteel (Alex) of Decatur.
Pallbearers will be Zach Richie, James Yearwood, Jeff Richie, Glenn Priest, Ricky Terry and Brent Oaks.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 2745, Decatur, AL 35602.
