Linda Gist Fossett – Obituary

lindaLinda Gist Fossett, 68, of Killen, AL passed from this life February 20, 2015. Visitation will be from 5:00-8:00pm on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Thursday, February 26 at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow in Atlas Church of Christ cemetery. Officiating will be Bro. Tim Grigsby.

Mrs. Fossett resided in Lauderdale County, AL for most of her life and later lived in Davenport, Iowa. She was a scheduler for TVA and retired from Exelon Corporation, Cordova, Ill. She was a loving person that cherished all of her family and friends. She was always smiling and full of laughter. Even on the bad days she would still smile at people who came to visit her. She was co-author of a cookbook, “Friends Cook Vegetables Then and Now”. She had an avid interest in genealogy and compiled numerous family genealogy books. She served as a volunteer on the Democratic Party committee while living in Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her Father, Robert Almon Gist and Mother, Ora Harrison Gist. She is survived by her husband, Cedric Fossett, Davenport, Iowa; son, Byron McDougal, Killen; brother, Richard Gist (Tricia),Florence; niece, Chapel Gist King (Phillip), Florence; two great nephews, Peyton and Preston King; one great niece, Britton King, stepdaughter, Pam Fossett; brother-in-law, Jewel Fossett (Hattie); two God children, Zachary and Haley Howes, Davenport, Iowa. Also, a very special African Grey Parrot named Dolly.

Pallbearers will be John Hawk, Dan Howes, Leon Grigsby, Zachary Howes, Ronnie Wiley, and Judge James Hall. Honorary Pallbearers will be Chuck Mayberry, Jerry Grigsby, James McDougal, and Tom McMurtrey.

Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
