Funeral Services for Mrs. Linda Carroll Cullars, age 73 of Ashland, will be held on Monday, January 30, 2023 at 2:00 P.M. at Corinth Baptist Church with Rev. Kenneth Fuller officiating. Burial will follow in the adjoining cemetery.

Mrs. Cullars passed away on Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Clay County, graduate of Mellow Valley High School, obtained degrees from Southern Union State Community College, and graduated from Jacksonville State University with her Masters in Elementary Education. She taught 3rd grade at Mellow Valley Elementary School for 27 years and at Meriwether County Elementary school in Georgia for 13 years until she retired in 2014. During her teaching career, she also taught GED classes for 15 years and worked in the business office at the Clay County Hospital. When she wasn’t teaching generations of children, she enjoyed reading John Patterson books, painting and drawing, and spending time with her grandchildren. Mrs. Cullars never spoke a bad word about anyone, and had a soft, caring personality. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Mrs. Cullars is survived by her children: Kacie Brown (Lee Roy), Christopher Charles Cullars (Kerri), and Joshua Cody Cullars, all of Ashland; 10 grandchildren: Anna (Clayton), Asia, Gerald, Madyson, Jacob, Dawson, Harlee, Aiden, Cailyn, and Eli; 5 great-grandchildren: Everett, Myles, Layla, Royal, and Legend; her sister, Brenda Johnson (Johnny) of Ashland; two brothers: Gene Carroll (Nonnie) of Cragford and Kent Carroll (Gail) of Lanett, and a large extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents: L.G. and Velma Rose Burgess Carroll; her husband, Drew Cullars; two sisters: Carolyn Carroll and Maurine Brewer; and her brother, Don Carroll.

Active Pallbearers will be: Joel McMath, Jared Robertson, Tim Carroll, Barkley East, Clayton Lynn, and Sonny Carroll.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Al McMath, Mike Brewer, Kenny Carroll, Jeffery Carroll, and Tony Carroll.

Her visitation will take place on Sunday, January 29, 2023 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville from 5:00 PM until 8:00 P.M. She will lie in state for one hour at Corinth Baptist Church on Monday, January 30 from 1:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
