Linda Alderman Horn, 84, of Biloxi, MS, passed away on November 2, 2024.
She was born June 28, 1940 in Brookhaven, MS and spent her childhood and teenage years in Port Gibson, MS and Philadelphia, MS. Linda went on to study at East Central Community College and Mississippi State University where she earned a B.S. in Secondary Education. After marrying James William Horn in 1962, Linda moved to Huntsville, AL and poured her heart into raising her two children, Sharon Horn Wilson and Mark Edwin Horn. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Huntsville, AL where she was very active in her Sunday school class and delighted in playing the piano for the men’s ensemble.
Linda enjoyed teaching middle school English for fifteen years at Heritage Christian School and four years at Westminster Christian Academy, both located in Huntsville, AL. She loved her students and took great pride in teaching them ALL the grammar rules!
Volunteer work was dear to Linda’s heart and she enjoyed teaching ESL classes as well as tutoring elementary students in reading. In later years, she spent time playing piano for the memory care unit at her senior living community and loved seeing the folks come to life when they heard her play familiar hymns for them.
Linda cherished her family and friends and always looked forward to welcoming them into her home. She faithfully cheered on her MSU bulldogs every year and absolutely loved running into anyone from Mississippi so that she could try to find a connection with their family in some way – which she usually did!
Linda loved Jesus and trusted His saving work on the cross to cover her sins. She knew His faithfulness to her and trusted Him with every aspect of her life. She was singing praises to Him until the end of her earthly life with a bright smile on her face and great anticipation in her heart at seeing Him face to face very soon!
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Edwin and Rosalie Alderman, her husband, James William Horn, and her son-in-law, Stephen Wilson as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins who were special to her heart.
She is survived by her children, Sharon Horn Wilson and Mark Edwin Horn (Stephanie), grandchildren, Joshua (Amy) Wilson, Daniel (Bethany) Wilson, James Wilson, Caleb Horn, Jacob (Kienna) Horn, Katherine Horn, and David Horn, great-granddaughter, Ellie Wilson and sister, Libby Benson (Randy) as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
