FLORENCE-Limestone House Bed & Breakfast located in Florence at 601 North Wood Avenue, gave everyone who attended their Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting, a good old Southern welcome. The day was bright and the atmosphere was warm. Bill and Betty Malone Know how to celebrate and here is what they have to say:
” Welcome to Limestone House Bed &
Breakfast
– Your Shoals home away
from home! Built in 1915, this
luxurious getaway is set in the heart
of historic Florence, AL and is just a
short stroll from the University of
North Alabama, great restaurants,
fine shopping, and unique historical
sites.
Built in 1915 by the leading citizen
and Mayor of Florence, Colonel
Cyrus Washington (C. W.) Ashcraft,
this B&B is constructed with thick
limestone blocks, which were mined
and cut from area limestone
formations.
Added to the National Register of
Historical Places in October 1978,
Limestone House was the first home
in Florence to be wired for electricity
and was the center of many social
events. This southern hospitality has
continued throughout the last century
with famous guests including Henry
Ford, Thomas Edison, Humphrey
Bogart, and more recently George
Lindsey and Kris Kristofferson.
Limestone House boasts two luxury
guestrooms: The Henry Ford
Guestroom named to honor Ford’s
1921 effort to bring his auto industry
to the Shoals, and the Thomas
Edison Guestroom named in
honor of the 1921 visit Thomas
Edison made with Henry Ford.
Our goal at Limestone House Bed &
Breakfast is to roll out the red carpet
for each of our guests, particularly
when it comes to food. You won’t
want to miss our famous, three-Course
breakfast, where you won’t
leave hungry and may not need lunch!”
The Shoals Chamber was on hand to capture the event in photos. We present them to you here:
