Lillian Vera Mackinnon Gillespie, born on September 03, 1921 in Tonopah, NV passed away on July 18, 2024.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Martin Victor Gillespie; daughter, Sally Ann Andrews; brother, George Mackinnon; parents, Walter and Vera Mackinnon.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Gillespie-Gateley (Paul) of Poulsbo, WA; sons, Walter Gillespie (Ann) of NV and Ron Gillespie (Wanda) of Lexington, AL; son-in-law, Kenny Andrews Concord, CA; 11 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren.

Lillian was a machinist or “Rosie the Riveter” during WWII, a telephone switch board operator. She married in 1946 and became a homemaker, 4-H Leader and foster parent to many children. Lillian loved to cook, sew, paint, make pottery and any crafts. She was an amazing flower gardener. Camping and traveling in their motorhome were one of her most loved activities. Lillian lived most of her life in San Francisco and Fairfax, CA. In 1992 she moved to Lexington, AL to be near her son. Mrs. Gillespie has lived at Hilltop Assisted Living and Glenwood Center in Florence, AL for the past 8 years, The family would like to thank all the staff at both places for the excellent and patient care they gave to her. Lillian was of the Catholic faith.

There will be a private graveside service handled by Colbert Memorial Chapel. Father Jonathan Howell of St Joseph Catholic Church Florence, AL will be officiating.
