Lillian Spinks Bergman, 92, passed away Friday, February 6, 2015, at the Golden Living Center. A native of Tifton, GA, she was born July 15, 1922, the daughter of Joseph and Eldora Crum. After her high school graduation, she moved to Jacksonville, FL where she made her home until her health began to decline. A product of the Great Depression, Lillian knew the value of hard work and lived a life of service to others. Soon after her marriage to Alfred A. Spink, he would be called up to serve in World War II. It was then she began her business career, operating a day care and private kindergarten from her home, which would expand and grow over the years. She was a member of Spring Glen United Methodist Church. Later in life, Lillian married Harold Bergman with whom she shared many happy memories. Lillian loved traveling and gardening, but her family was always her first priority.
Services and burial will be held at the Greenlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery in Jacksonville FL on Saturday. A memorial service will be held at NorthStar Church in Saltillo at a later date. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with local arrangements.
Lillian is survived by her two daughters, Kathy Bondurant (Ken) of Tupelo and Susan Kelly (Coney) of Dallas, TX; 4 grandchildren, April Gray (Wesley) of Tupelo, Alex Bondurant (Julie) of Corinth, Aleigha Franks (Cody) of Tupelo, and Susan Kelly Molbert (Paul) of New Orleans; 2 step-grandchildren, Kenneth Bergman (Megan) of Ashburn, VA and Mark Bergman (Maddie) of Jacksonville; and 5 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Alfred A. Spink; a son, Alfred Daniel Spink, a granddaughter, Elizabeth Kelly Harrington; 6 siblings; and her husband, Harold Bergman.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
