Lillian Mary Hofues Kinnebrew joined Jesus on Wednesday, December 20, 2023 at 12:53PM after a 7+ month battle with brain cancer. She was 69 years old.
Upon completion of high school at Radford High School in Honolulu, HI, Lillian graduated magna cum laude from UAH with a B.S. in Biology in 1977. Lillian met her husband while attending UAH and they married on September 09, 1978. She subsequently obtained her MBA from the University of West Florida in 1979.
“Lillian, or ‘Lily’ as many knew her, and ‘Lily Belle’ as her surviving husband, Peter, often hailed her, was many things. She was a dedicated and devoted daughter, a sympathetic and sensible sister, a wise and wonderful wife, a natural and nurturing mother, and a successful and savvy business manager. Additionally, she was the grandest of grannies and a tireless facilitator of family functions and fun. She was the finest listener one could ever know!
Lillian is survived by her husband of 45+ years, Peter Siler Kinnebrew; daughter, Rebecca Pace Aston and her husband, Matthew Joseph Aston; son, Patrick Siler Kinnebrew and his wife, Elizabeth Jane Harp Kinnebrew; son, Scott Hanson Kinnebrew; two grandchildren, Silver Van Cleave Kinnebrew and Gaines Parker Kinnebrew; four nephews, two nieces, and numerous friends.
Over the past several years, Lillian had become an avid Bible reader and a student of biblical history, thanks in large part of her joining, “FAITH FACTOR BIBLE STUDY CLASS”, at Trinity United Methodist Church. Though Lily professed no favorite biblical verses, the following are ones we discussed often:
“Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.” – Hebrews 11:1
“But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.” – Mark 10:14-16
Though Lillian was taken from her family and friends much too soon and will be missed by many, she has left this realm a better place for her having been here. The next stop on her journey will be a better place upon her arrival and a place where she has assured us she will be our on-call Guardian Angel forever!
