Lillian Fowler Keel – Obituary

lillianLillian Fowler Keel, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend to many, went to be with the Lord on Friday at the age of 92.

Lillian was born in Hollywood, Alabama, and was married to and devoted wife to her husband, Buddy Keel, for 69 years. She worked 21 years for Southern Bell Telephone Company, was an election poll worker for 40 years, faithful member of Mountain View Baptist Church, and was “Lady Moon Rover” on the CB radio channel, giving directions to truckers needing help. She loved sports, especially fast pitch softball, was a great cook, and a faithful servant to all who she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Furman Duncan and Ida Womack Fowler, sister, Ozelene Campbell; and brothers, Richard and Ellis Fowler.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph “Buddy” Keel Sr.; daughter, Linda Bell and husband, Leon, of Huntsville; son, Ralph Keel Jr. and wife, Alice, of Huntsville; granddaughter, Michelle Seale and husband, Adam, of Birmingham; great-grandchildren, Brenna and Wyatt Seale; six nephews; and four nieces. “Mrs. Keel” will always be remembered for her kindness and servant’s heart and her example of a Proverbs 31 woman. She fought the good fight, she finished the race, she kept the faith.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Joe Evans officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mountain View Baptist Church, Huntsville, AL or Northeast Alabama Fellowship of Christian Athletes in Huntsville, AL.
