Funeral for Lila S. Jones Hooper, 94, of Moulton will be Sunday, March 8, 2015, at 2pm at Elliott Funeral Home with Bro. Calvin Jones, Bro. Bob Sims, and James “Bubba” Jones officiating. Burial will be in Union Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon to 2pm at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hooper died Thursday, March 5, 2015. She was born April 5, 1920, in Pickens County to Columbus and Edna Jones. She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, James Carl Hooper Sr.; son-in-law, Pelham Horton; daughter-in-law, Barbara L. Hooper; five brothers and four sisters. Mrs. Hooper was a member of Moulton Baptist Church and taught Sunday school for several years. She made a difference in many lives and made many special friends. Our mother was loved by many and we will miss her dearly.
She is survived by her five children, Carolyn Horton, James C. Hooper Jr., Audrey Smith (Marion), Sue Wilson (Bennett) and Sandra Lapain (Don); one sister, Sarah Allen; three brothers, James Jones, Owen Jones, and Roy Jones; 17 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, 17 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews and many, many friends. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
We would like to thank Glenwood Center employees, Dr. Robert Hall and Dr. Robert Webb for their special care of our mother. We would also like to thank her special roommate, Kathryn Ezell.
