Lida Mae Smith – Obituary

lidaLida Mae Smith went home to be with the Lord Saturday, December 15, 2012. She was born September 17, 1928 in Lauderdale County to Matt and Lellar Morrison Springer. In her younger years, Lida Mae worked in retail sales at Green’s Merchant and General Store. She also worked at W.T. Grant Company in Mobile, McClellans ten cent Store and J.C. Penney’s Department Store on Court Street in Florence. She was a devoted Christian and wife of the late Robert Lee Smith and a devoted mother to Gary Smith.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 18, 2012 from 5 – 8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. Her home going celebration will be Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at 11 a.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Justin Cole and Richard Dillon officiating. Burial will follow in Richardson’s Chapel Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her husband; parents; sisters, Jean Smith, Annie Bell Steel, Aulean Whitehead, and Ruthie Shaw; brothers, Charlie and Jim Springer.
She is survived by her son, Gary Smith ; sister, Sallie Gladney and husband, Spencer; sister-in-law, Opal English; brother-in-law, Leo Shaw; numerous nieces, nephews, and Heritage Manor Assisted Living family (management, staff, and residents).
A special acknowledgement to Sherry Clarke, Myra Gee, Martha Maxey, and their spouses for their attention paid to her.
I would like to thank Dr. Bartmess, Dr. Wilkes, Gentiva Home Health, and Mitchell-Hollingsworth Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care, compassion, and professionalism shown to my Mother during her illness.
