Mr. Lex Paul Shirah, of the Grassy community of Arab Alabama, passed away the morning of August 10, 2022 at his home. Mr. Shirah was born on December 18, 1941 to Paul Ray Shirah and Rosa Nell Benton. After serving his country in the United States Navy, Mr. Shirah worked at and retired from Redstone Arsenal.
Mr. Shirah is survived by his wife; Wanda Sue Glass-Shirah, son; John Shirah, daughter; Jennifer “Jenny” Durham and her husband Phillip, step-son; Ricky Glass, step-daughter; Kristi Brackett and her husband Rodney, 4 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Shirah is preceded in death by his parents; Paul Ray and Rosa Nell Benton-Shirah, step-son; Greg Glass, and daughter-in-law; Kim Shirah.
A visitation for Mr. Shirah is scheduled for Saturday August 13, 2022 from 9:00 am -11:00 am at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Services will follow at 11:00 am.
Escorting Mr. Shirah to his final resting place in Arab Memorial Cemetery are Matthew Bennefield, Daniel Mead, Glenn Glass, Gary Glass, Kevin Jolley, and Daniel Shirah. Honorary pallbearers are Troy Glass and Rodney Brackett.
