Lewis Stanley Scogin,88 of Huntsville, Alabama passed away on December, 24th, 2023.
Lewis is survived by his wife, Maria Veloso Scogin, son, Samuel David Scogin(Sue), sister, Betty Whiteley-Warren (Buford), daughter-in-law Alecia Scogin(Terry), granddaughters Shanna Scogin, Amber Crow, Tawnee Clements, Victoria Davis and several great-grandchildren.
Lewis is preceded in death by his loving wife of 45 years, Violeta Cuerpo Scogin, son Terry Michael Scogin, father, Lewis Samuel Scogin and his mother, Sallie Widener Scogin.
Lewis was a graduate of Alverson Draughon Business College in Birmingham, a veteran having served in the US Navy; worked as an Engineer with North American Rockwell Corporation who relocated him to the Los Angeles area. He later moved to Northern California, embarking on a new career as a Real Estate Broker, owner of a Christian book store, a Sporting Goods store and a custom frame shop. In 1979 he moved back home to Madison County where continued his career in Real Estate.
He became a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church upon his return from the Navy in 1958 until 1963 when his job took him to California. Upon the family’s return to North Alabama in 1979, they resumed membership at Westminster. He and his sons, Sam and Terry, later built the beautiful building which houses North Hills Presbyterian Church, a daughter church of Westminster; where Mr. Scogin served his Lord until his death.
