Lewis Lee McNair, 93, passed away on April 1, 2023. Lewis was preceded in death by his father, James Elisha McNair; his mother, Clara Dye; his brothers: Judson McNair, William “Bo” McNair, Rufus McNair, Ray McNair and Tom McNair; and his sisters: Helen Georgeson, Ann Sheffield, Letitia Peel and Nell Arrington.

Lewis is survived by his wife of 64 years, Ann Richardson McNair, and their daughter, Celia Lee McNair. He is also survived by many loved nieces and nephews.

Originally from Stellaville, GA, Lewis graduated from Wrens High School and in 1956 he graduated from the University of Georgia with a Master’s Degree in Mathematics. That same year he began his career in the space program with Army Ballistic Missile Agency that later became NASA. During that time, he met his wife Ann, who was also working on the space program. After retiring from NASA, Lewis worked for Lockheed Martin and Martin Marietta.

In addition to studying and teaching advanced mathematics, he loved farming, and his favorite thing was digging in the dirt and watching plants grow. He enjoyed his Georgia Bulldogs and playing cards with family and friends. He will be greatly missed.
