Lewis Erskey Payne, 90, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2025 at Generations of Red Bay. He was born in Golden, MS to William Erskey and Evelyn Leona Wells Payne. He retired from Reynolds Aluminum after 29 ½ years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and a member of First Baptist Church, Red Bay, AL.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 18, 2:30 p.m. with Bro. James Segars and Bro. Bill Harper officiating. Burial will be in Belmont Memory Gardens. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Ima Jeanne Payne; son, Matthew Payne (Tina); grandchildren, Andrew M. Payne and Cassandra Payne Davis (Austin); great-grandchildren, Lucas C. Payne, Avary G. Davis, Clark O. Payne and Abigail R. Davis; uncle, Nolan Wells (Dorothy); nephew, Wayborn Bowling (Debbie) and great nieces and nephews, Chris Bowling, Ginger Bowling, Blake Bowling, Melanie Bowling Robinson and Whitney Bowling Dawson.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Joann Bowling (O.J.); nephew, Charles Bowling and great-nephew, Wayborn Michael Bowling.
Pallbearers will be Andrew Payne, Wayborn Bowling, Joey Payne, Mark Chumbley, Reggie Segars and Austin Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Faron Credille, Scott Eubanks and Johnny Mac Johnson.
