MUSCLE SHOALS-Jump-start your Handy Festival fun on July 19 by climbing aboard the Florence Trolley for a one-of-a kind musical adventure. The “Swampette Musical Mystery Tour” will include an inside look at the legendary FAME and 3614 Jackson Highway recording studios followed by the chance to ride in the W.C. Handy Festival Parade. The tour, which begins at 4 p.m., will also include brief stops at historic musical points of interest along the way.
The group will be guided by “Swampette” Judy Hood whose husband, David, is the bassist for the
Muscle Shoals Rhythm Section. “Everybody loves parades and everybody loves music so we thought it would be cool to mix them together,” said Hood. “We’ll watch the Muscle Shoals movie trailer at the Florence Library and then board the trolley for a funk-filled excursion to the studios that made this area famous. This tour honors the legacy and celebrates the bright future of Muscle Shoals music. We’ve had rave reviews from participants on our previous tours and we are kicking this one up a notch with some special surprises.”
