Lester Russell “Russ” Stubblefield, age 89 of Sherwood, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at Hospice of Chattanooga. He was born on March 1, 1935, in Sinking Cove to the late Lester and Hattie (Summers) Stubblefield. Before his retirement, Russell was employed as an iron worker at AEDC. He was a member of Sherwood Church of Christ and loved to serve his community and help others. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Prince Stubblefield, sister, Effie Cunningham, and nephew, Billy Russell Cunningham. Russell is survived by his loving children, Teresa (Glenn) Smith of South Pittsburg, and Rusty Stubblefield of Sherwood; sisters, Joy (Ken) Matthews of Stevenson, Alabama, and Dot Phillips of Winchester; grandchildren, Suzanne (Robert) Avett, Mike (Kristi) Smith, Trey Stubblefield, Haley Stubblefield, and Tyler Stubblefield; great-grandson, Russell Graham Stubblefield; four nephews; and three nieces. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Friday, August 23, 2024, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 24, 2024, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Gordon Matthews and Monty Adams officiating. Interment will follow at Mt.
