Lester Ervin Birdwell, 84, of Rogersville, died Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016, at ECM Hospital in Florence, Alabama. He was born on April 16, 1932.
Visitation will be today, Sept. 19th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. The funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Johnny Stringer and Jerry Curry officiating. Burial will be at the Romine Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Brian Birdwell, Ike Newton, Wesley Birdwell, Daniel Burns, Daniel Luffman and Larry Birdwell. Honorary pallbearer, Matthew Birdwell.
Mr. Birdwell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was a Christian and was a member of the Confluence Church of Christ. He served in the army in the Korean war.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Birdwell; son, Glenn Birdwell; parents, Oscar and Mattie Birdwell; brothers, Odie, Edward, Bryon, Iran, Clyde Birdwell, and infant brother.
He is survived by his children, Anthony (Carol) Birdwell, Stanley (Catherine) Birdwell, Melissa (Malcom) Newton and Jerry (Tammy) Birdwell; brothers, Pharis Birdwell and O.C. Birdwell; sisters-in-law, Frances Birdwell and Connie Thomas; brothers-in-law, Wick and Ed Birdwell; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
