In the early hours of the morning of August 5, 2024, Lester Dewayne Moody, 64, lifelong resident of New Albany, departed this life from injuries sustained when his semi-truck overturned on I-75 during Hurricane Debbie in Tampa, FL.

The family has requested a gathering of family and friends on Thursday, August 15 from 12 Noon until 3 PM in the Memory Chapel of New Albany Funeral and Cremation Care to share memories.

Mr. Moody was born December 11, 1959, in New Albany, the son of the late Herman Thomas and Leona Rodgers Moody. He received his education from Ingomar High School and was a valued over the road truck driver for 25 years and was currently employed with Dobbs Trucking for the last 9 years. On December 11, 1995, he married his beloved wife, Teresa Hogue Moody, who survives.

A simple man throughout his life, Mr. Moody proudly served his country in the United States Army for 6 years, enjoyed listening to classic rock and loved being a “trucker”.  He will be remembered as a loving family man, devoted to his wife, dedicated to his children, adored his grandchildren and cherished his friends.  “A trucker’s eyes see more sunsets than most people’s hearts.”

In addition to his wife and best friend of 38 years, memories will continue to be shared by two daughters, Chasidy Robinson of New Albany and Pamela Page of Ripley, two step-daughters, Kookie Freeman and Misty Lindsey, both of New Albany, a sister, Gayla Moody of New Albany, three brothers, Thomas Moody (Anita), Glynn Moody (Peggy) and John Moody, all of New Albany, nine grandchildren, Alle Robinson, Mason Robinson, Emmanuel Knox and Heaven Knox, Quitman Hamblin, Shonna Hamblin, Cheyenne Hamblin, Addison Lindsey and Payden Lindsey.
