Funeral services for Mr. Lester B. Hensley, age 79, are scheduled for 2 PM, Sunday, July 30, 2023 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Baptist Cemetery.
Mr. Hensley was born April 23, 1944 to Stella Middleton Hensley and Revio Hensley. He was born again on June 24, 2012. At 6 months of age, Lester contracted the polio virus which resulted in him spending long periods of time in medical facilities like Shriners Children’s Hospital. Although muscles on his left leg were drastically affected by the virus and he would wear a full leg brace for the rest of his life, Lester never let his circumstances render him disabled. He married the love of his life, Linda Fay Currin Hensley on December 17, 1966. Lester went to Tool and Die school part-time while working at Century Electric, later renamed MagneTek, now Nidec. He retired after 33 years with the company. There he held many roles, such as, department manager, Engineer, and when he retired he had the role of Unit Plant Manager. Lester also became a Mason, reaching Shriner’s level, which he faithfully served for over 50 years to repay the organization for the financial and family support he received as an infant at the Shriners Childrens Hospital. He loved to travel, play golf, and farm over the years. He was preceded in death by his parents; his two sisters, Bernice Hensley and Rita Moylan; and one brother, Randell Hensley.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Mrs. Linda Hensley; two daughters, Penny Hensley and Pamela Hensley McCormick (Brian Woods); two sons, Jonathon Hensley and Jeffrey Hensley (Brenda); five grandchildren, Sonora Hensley, Lawson Clymer, Chloe Hensley, Litney Grace McCormick; and Brice Hensley; and two sisters, Jeanice Scott and Wanda Leebrick (Dana).
The family will receive friends on Friday, 5 – 9 PM, Saturday 9 AM – 9 PM, and on Sunday, 10 AM – 2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family request you donate to the Shriners Childrens Hospital in his memory.
