Leslie Beth Barham Young – Obituary

Leslie Beth Barham Young, age 50, passed peacefully from this life at her home in Grand Prairie, Texas on March 15, 2018.

Beth was born on July 18, 1967 in Hendersonville, NC to William Lyle Barham and the late Betty Whorton Barham. She grew up on their family farm in Petersburg, TN and was of the Baptist faith. After graduation from Lincoln County High School, Beth received her LPN from TN Vocational School in Pulaski, TN. Beth’s love of nursing was as a pediatric home health nurse in the Dallas area for many years where she nurtured and cared for special needs babies, toddlers and young children. She loved talking about her special little patients and how dear they were to her. Even though most of her family and friends lived some distances away, she loved staying in communication via phone, internet and even an occasional long overdue visit with them.

She is survived by her husband, Michael J. Young; father, William Lyle Barham and his wife Becky; maternal grandmother, Leora Keel Whorton; step-children, Mallori (Brayden) Green, Montrel Young, and Makajaisha Young; step-grandchildren, Braxton Green and Dreystian Young; half-sisters, Cynthia Shea Barham (Dan) Hart, Hunterland Barham Garnier; step-brother, Timmy Adams; step-sister, Tisha Whitsett; aunts, Susan Whorton (Nathan) Nickelson, Paulette Barham (Patrick) Carver and Brenda Whorton Keel; uncle, Jerry Whorton; mother-in-law, Darlene Williams; step-father-in-law, Gary Williams; sister-in-law, Maura (Pierre) Daniels; niece, Travacia Tinner; nephews, Tony (Bree) Morelli and Christopher (Tabitha) Clark; and several special cousins, family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Whorton Barham; sister, Amy “Crickett” Barham; infant brother, William Lyle Barham, Jr; parental grandparents, Paul and Mildred Crabtree Barham; maternal grandfather, Joseph Titus Whorton; father-in-law, Milton Young; and uncle, Teddy Whorton.

A memorial graveside service will be conducted on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at 12 noon in Old Orchard Cemetery, Petersburg, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in the memory of her sister, Crickett, to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 4825 Trousdale Drive, Nashville, TN 37220 or to your favorite charity.

The family of Leslie Beth Barham Young with to thank her friends and co-workers for the prayers and condolences shared on her behalf. May the Lord Jesus Christ be proclaimed by her life and in her death. Higgins Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Family of Mrs. Young.
