Leroy Vernon Shirah, Jr. – Obituary

Graveside service for Leroy Vernon Shirah, Jr., age 57, of Decatur, will be Thursday, August 22, 2013, 2:30 p.m. with Rev. Dr. Jackie Kay officiating and Shelton Funeral Home directing.  The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 22, 2013, from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.    Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Mr. Shirah, who died Monday, August 19, 2013, at Parkway Medical Center, was born July 30, 1956, in Spartanburg, SC, to Leroy Vernon Shirah, Sr. and Shirley Dillard Shirah.  He was preceded in death by his father, and one nephew, Lee Easter.  Mr. Shirah was a veteran of the U. S. Navy and served as an anti-warfare specialist on the U.S.S. America

He is survived by his wife, Christine Lori Demerco Shirah of Decatur; his mother, Shirley Shirah of Decatur; three brothers, Lonnie Shirah (Penny) of Decatur, Russell Shirah (Jona) of Decatur, and David Shirah (Linda) of Spartanburg, SC; one sister, Phyllis Husky of Greenville, SC; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.
