LeRoy Allen Howard, age 88, of Hamilton, Alabama passed away on Friday, April 26, 2024, at his residence. He was born in Muscatine, Iowa on Saturday, November 16, 1935, to Omar Howard and Esther Freeze Howard.
He came to Hamilton in 1974 as maintenance Supervisor at Federal Mogul. In May of 1987 he became maintenance supervisor at South Ridge Mobile Homes where he retired in 2003.
Leroy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. Not only to his biological family but his stepfamily as well. He called them all “George” and he was known as papa George to them in return.
He was an active member of Hamilton First Baptist Church where he served in the radio and TV ministry for over two decades.
He is survived by his wife, Jo Herndon Howard; children, Tim (Gracie) Howard, Moline, IL, Scott (Sabrina) Howard Schaumburg, IL, Tammy Douglas, Moline, IL, Christine (Mark) Bursaw, Marshall, WS, sister, Miriam Neff, Muscatine, Iowa; sister-in-law, April Howard, Boise, Idaho; step-children, Debra Kuykendall, Smithville, MS, Rhonda Sloan, Fort Walton Beach, FL; step-daughter-in-law, Sheila Carter, Muscle Shoals, AL; a host of grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Preceding in death his parent, Omar Howard and Esther Freeze Howard; brother, Jerry Howard; three sisters, Thelma Hildebaugh, Ruth Yerington, Phyllis Marine; two stepsons, Truman and Richard Carter; a step granddaughter, Lindsay Carter; step-son-in- law, John Kuykendall.
The visitation will be from 12:30 -2 p.m. Wednesday, May 01, 2024, at Hamilton First Baptist Church, the service will follow at 2 p.m. with Bro Jeremy Sorrells officiating and Interment at Lee Memorial Park in Verona, MS.
Serving as pall bearers are Josh and Jeff Howard, Adam Douglas, JB and Joseph Kuykendall, Truman Carter, and Mark Bursaw.
