Leonard “JL” Matlock, age 79, of Summertown,TN passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center in Columbia,TN. He was a native of Lawrence County,TN, retired from International Paper, and a member of New Salem Church of God. He enjoyed fishing, collecting knives, and fixing televisions. His greatest love was spending time with his family. Mr. Matlock served his country honorably in the US Army.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rosie Elizabeth Matlock; his grandfather that raised him, Clarence Leonard Matlock “Daddy”; and one sister, Cyrus “Renie” Partain.
He is survived by one son, Kevin Matlock (Jessica) of Bell Buckle, TN; two daughters, Cheryl Green (Dobber) of Summertown, TN, and Dana Loudermilk (Roy) of Woodlawn, TN; two brothers, Eugene Matlock (Faye) of Grayslake, IL and Clifford Lemay (Regina) of Culleoka,TN; four sisters, Rosie Whitehead (Terry) of Lawrenceburg,TN, Edith Hill (James) of Lawrenceburg, TN, Sue Luna (Eddie) of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Karen Kuhns (Don) of Summertown,TN; seven grandchildren, Alex Pope of Wayensboro, TN, Amber Green (Jeffrey) of Summertown, TN, Zac Green of Summertown, TN, Dylan Weaver of Woodlawn, TN, Kelsey Jimenez of Ellicott, CO, Cheyenne Jenkins of Charleston, SC, Hannah Loudermilk of Hopewell, NC; fifteen great-grandchildren, Hagan Pope, Driston Green, C.J. Green, Linda Marie Howell, Keagan Green, Oliver Green, Aria Jimenez, Elena Jimenez, Preston Jimenez, Carson Jimenez, Penelope Jenkins, Navee Jenkins, Jemma Jenkins, Royell Jenkins, and Dhurvi Jordan; several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Neal Funeral Home, 231 N. Military Avenue, Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Friday, October 18, 2024, at Neal Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at Neal Funeral Home at 11:00 AM Saturday, October 19, 2024, with Jason Robertson officiating. Interment will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Summertown, TN, with full military honors.
