Funeral services for Leona Martin Burden will be Saturday, August 3, 2024 at Grace Point Baptist Church with Brother Jack Bailey officiating and Peck Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be from 11:00 A. M. until 1:00 P.M. The service will begin at 1:00 P. M. Burial will be at Arab Cemetery following the service.
Mrs. Burden passed away on Monday, July 29, 2024 at The Terrace in Priceville. She was born May 15, 1925 to William Albert Martin and Grace Clayton Martin.
Mrs. Burden is survived by her daughter, Judy Childers and Son-in-law, Mickey Childers, Grandchildren, Jim Childers and wife, Belinda, Julie Thomas and husband, Wesley, and John Childers and wife, Leigh Anna. She is also survived by Great-grandchildren, Brook Gibson ( Zach ), Michael Childers, Kayleigh Thrasher, Weslyn Thomas, Murphy Childers, and Anna Leigh Childers, who all called her “Granny”. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ganes Burden.
She loved her Church and spending time with her family. When she was younger, she enjoyed sewing, and she was a wonderful cook. She was especially known for her Angel Food cakes and her Southern fried Chicken. Mrs. Burden was truly a Proverbs 31: 10-31 lady.
