Mr. Leon Wade, age 74, passed away late Thursday at his home in Huron. He was born April 25, 1950 in Memphis to the late Ruby Martin and Exie Mae Ricketts Wade. He was a self-employed truck driver and construction worker and enjoyed classic cars, drag racing, and riding horses. He especially enjoyed watching his grandsons play baseball.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Wanda Wall Wade; his son, Travis Wade (LaRachel); three brothers, Ray Wade, Clinton Wade, and Charles Wade; sister, Brinda Bowman; and three grandchildren, Brayden Wade, Alexander Wade, and Lachlan Wade.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Junior Wade, Eddie Burkett, J.R. Burkett, and Odis Waddle and five sisters, Faye Hodges, Magdelene Beecham, Mary Nell Page, Geneva Ferguson, and Willie Mae Webb.
Funeral services are scheduled for 3 PM, Sunday, June 30, 2024, in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home in Lexington. Interment will follow in Independence Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday, 4 – 8 PM and on Sunday, 10 AM – 3 PM.
