Leon Goins, age 84, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2015. Visitation will be Thursday, Sept. 10, 2015, from 6-8 p.m. at Colbert Memorial Chapel. The funeral service will be Friday, Sept. 11, 2015, at 1 p.m., with burial to follow in Colbert Memorial Gardens. Brother Tommy West will be officiating.
Mr. Goins was preceded in death by his parents, William Fred and Annie Diana Goins, five brothers and two sisters.
Survivors are his wife of 63 wonderful years, Earline Goins; sons, Michael Leon Goins, Jerry Ken Goins and David Bryan Goins; daughter, Judy Goins Marks; sisters, Lois Daily and Nadine Hall; grandchildren, Amy Thomas, Robbie Goins, Brently Bullion, Jacob Jones, Jason Marks, Justin Goins and Josh Goins, Laura Beth Goins and Devin Goins; and 15 great- grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Mr. Goins was a member of Barton First Baptist Church, Barton, Alabama. He was a welder by trade in the automotive manufacturing industry. As a welder, he loved to fabricate. He was a musician who loved Bluegrass gospel music.
