Leon Franklin Ivy – Obituary

Leon Franklin Ivy of Killen, previously from Huntsville and Dallas, Texas, passed away February 1, 2015. Leon was born to the late Franklin and Elzada Jenkins Ivy, May 9, 1930 in Poteet, Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. He retired from Redstone Arsenal as a quality assurance specialist. Leon was a Christian and Charter member of CrossRoads Baptist Church where he helped teach children. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling in his RV.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. at CrossRoads Baptist Church with David Cofield officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be James Atkinson, Lance Brannon, Shane Butler, Steve Grider, Jack Paul and John Singleton. Honorary pallbearers will be members and past members of the Preteen and Senior Adult Life Groups of CrossRoads Baptist Church.
Mr. Ivy was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Joe Fitch Ivy; daughter, Linda Jo Ivy Doran; brother, Jesse Ivy; sister, Ida Bray. He is survived by his wife, Carey Ivy; children, Rita (Buddy) Wiggins, Wanda (Tommy) Jones, Melanie Cook Prince, Gloria Cook (Raymond, Jr.) Pack and Tony (Angela) Cook; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters, Betty (Bobby) Lamb and Martha Harris.
In lieu of flowers Leon request that donations be made to help needy children. Donations may be made to the Alabama Baptist Children’s Homes through CrossRoads Baptist Church, 10932 Hwy 72, Rogersville, AL 35652 or the Children’s Charity of your choice.
