Leoda “Jo” Walden Leake Goss – Obituary

My momma, Leoda “Jo” Walden Leake Goss, age 92, went to be with our Savior Jesus and Father in heaven, on January 8, 2017.
Visitation will be 5-7 pm., Wednesday, January 11, 2017, at Morrison Funeral Home, in Tuscumbia, Alabama. A Collierville visitation will be 1-3 pm. Thursday, January 12, 2017, at Collierville Funeral Home, on Hwy. 57, in Collierville, Tennessee. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery, in Collierville, Tennessee. Pall bearers will be Eugene J. Goforth, Billy E. Goforth, Kerry L. Himmler, J. Franklin Nearn, Charles R. Bryant, Jason Murphy, and honorary John E. Willis. Donations, in lieu of flowers, can be made to St. Jude Children Hospital, in Memphis, Tennessee.
She left her only child, Sheila Deane Leake Goforth, and son-in-law, Eugene J. Goforth, her only grandchild, Billy Eugene Goforth (Jonie), and 2 great-granddaughters Haylie Grace Goforth and Ashley Michelle Goforth.
She was proceeded in death by her father, William Allison Walden, her mother, Mary Magdalene Clark Walden, brothers, James William “Pete” Walden, John Richard Walden, Daniel Clark Walden, Rufus Lee Walden, and sisters, Annie Lois Walden Bobbitt, Katie Louise Walden Ferguson, Daisy May Walden Terry.
She was born in Tate County, Mississippi. She was a member of Antioch Church of Christ. She and her brother, Rufus, played guitars and sang in their youth. She moved to Tennessee in 1943. She moved to Collierville, Tennessee in 1964. She worked for Walker Machine till she retired. Her daughter took her to Tuscumbia, Alabama, to live with her, in 2004.
