Mr. Leo Ernest Mays, Jr., age 84, of Vernon, AL, passed away Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Fayette Medical Center-DCH.
Mr. Mays was born June 24, 1939, in Birmingham, AL, to the late Leo E. Mays, Sr. and Margaret F. Keiser Mays. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Cold War and was a logistics supervisor. He was preceded in death by his wife, Therese Mays.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, at 2:00 PM, in the chapel of Chandler Funeral Home, with Timothy Mays officiating. A graveside service will follow at Lamar Memory Gardens. Visitation will be 1:00-2:00 prior to the service.
Survivors include two daughters, Traci Bonds of Hueytown, AL and Natalie (Phillip) Foster of Kennedy, AL; two sons, Todd Mays of Hueytown, AL and Shane (Melissa) Cantrell of Winfield, AL; three brothers, David Mays, Tim Mays, and Tom Mays; six sisters, Lynda Williams, Margie Wheeler, Kathe Boohacker, Micki Willbanks, Cyndi Glaze, and Terri Key; five grandchildren, Ashleigh (Tanner) McMurry, Zack (Jeanne) Bonds, Nathaniel (Molly) Foster, Brooke (Cory) Driver, and Abby (Griffin) Webb; eight great-grandchildren, Mila Jo and Mallie McMurry, Waylon and Annabelle Foster, Braelynn, Everleigh, and Kynlee Driver, and Asher Webb; his special friend, Barry Vice; and a host of nieces and nephews.
