Lena Ray Haney Garner, age 88 of Estill Springs, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born in Sherwood on July 25, 1936, to the late Walter and Nannie (Smith) Haney and was a 1954 graduate of Franklin County High School. An Army wife, Lena was a devoted homemaker taking care of her family in each of the places they were moved. She could often be found cooking, sewing, cross-stitching, or tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed traveling with her late husband, especially to Helen, Georgia, Tybee Island, and Gatlinburg. But most of all, Lena cherished the time spent with her beloved family, whether it be watching her son’s races or spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her loving and caring nature, sassiness, and wonderful sense of humor will be missed by her family and friends. Lena was a member of Emmanuel Church of Christ in Sherwood. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Garner; and sister, Annie Byrd. She is survived by her loving children, Debbie (Mark) Bird, Sharon Garner, and Steve (Michelle) Garner; sister, Hazel King; grandchildren, Amy (Bret) Crabtree, Jennifer (Kristopher) Montgomery, Jonathan Bird, Michael (Kayla) Boatman, Emma (Kayley) Boatman, Steven (Megan) Garner, and Ashton (Joe) Burgraff; great-grandchildren, J.T., Caden, Caroline, Kaitlyn, Bayleigh, Brayden, Paisley, Liam, Lincoln, Tinsley, Easton, and Colson; and special friends and caregivers, Christy Sanson and Liz Roggli. Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Sunday, January 5, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, January 6, 2025, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with Bro. Franklin Hill officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. View Cemetery.
