Lelland Clay, age 80, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, at Maury Regional Medical Center. Born on October 28, 1943, in Hohenwald, Tennessee, Lelland was the beloved son of the late James Clay and Sally Durham.
Throughout his life, Lelland found great joy in simple pleasures. He was an avid baseball fan, often found cheering for his favorite teams. His love for westerns filled many of his evenings with classic tales of adventure and heroism. In his younger years, Lelland enjoyed spending time fishing, a pastime that brought him serenity and countless cherished memories.
Lelland’s life was marked by his quiet strength and enduring spirit. He will be deeply missed by those who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and kindness that will be remembered fondly.
A private service will be held to honor Lelland’s life. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to a charity of your choice.
Lelland is preceded in death by his siblings: James Clay, Frank Clay, Leroy Clay, Imgene Rewis, George (Ginny) Clay, Maggie Ford, and Lilly and his wife of 55 years Ruby Clay; and parents.
Lelland is survived by his children: Robert (Sheila) Clay, Sherry (Randall), Jones, Leeland Clay, pamela (Ed) Skeels, and Rebecca (Chester) Hadley-Thomas; 20 grandchildren; 23 greatgrandchildren; and 3 greatgreatgrandchildren.
