Lell Walker Carraway Sullivan, age 97, passed away peacefully Friday, March 12, 2021 at the Sugar Creek Retirement Center, in Brownsville, TN. A Graveside Funeral Service will be conducted Monday, March 15, 2021 at 1:00 PM in the Oakwood Cemetery. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Lell was born in Haywood County, Tennessee on June 13, 1923 to Carl Alvin and Mamie Carlton Carraway, who precede her in death. During WWII, Lell did her part by working at the Milan Army Ammunition Plant. Lell later came to work as a dental technician for Dr. Thomas D. Russell, Jr. and retired after 40 years. In retirement, she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Haywood Park Hospital. She was a life long member of Lebanon United Methodist Church where her Boiled Custard and Jam Cake with caramel icing are legendary. Lell first learned to drive when she was in her fifty’s and enjoyed puttering around town in her yellow VW Beetle. Those left to cherish her memory are, her sister, Lula Frances Carraway Morgan of Kokomo, IN, three nephews; Steve Morgan of Kokomo, IN, Richard Carraway, Jr. of Dyersburg, TN and Dr. Hubert Smith of Brownsville, TN. Lell was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Link Sullivan, Jr., brothers, Jimmy, Carl, Alvin and Richard (Dick) Carraway, Sr. and a sister, Willie Jo Carraway Smith. Many thanks to all the staff at Sugar Creek Senior Living Community. They have been her trusted and loved family for the past two years.
