Lou PenningtonMrs. Lela Lou Pennington, age 95, of Vernon, passed away Friday, January 6, 2023, at Generations of Vernon.

Mrs. Pennington was born May 14, 1927, in Sulligent, AL, to the late John Fletcher and Nima A. Turman.  She was a housewife and was married to the late James Murvin “Mutt” Pennington.  Mrs. Pennington was a member of Springfield Free Will Baptist Church, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Betty Sue Miller, and her two brothers, John Turman and Joe Turman.

Funeral services will be Monday, January 9, at 2:00 PM, at Springfield Free Will Baptist Church, with Bro. John Johnson and Dillon Jones officiating.  Burial will follow at Wofford Cemetery.  Visitation will be at the church, 12:00-2:00, prior to the service.

Pallbearers will be Jake Lacy, Gary Stacks, Clint Jones, Thomas Langham, Garrett Stacks, and Haiden Lacy.

Survivors include her three children, Linda (Rex) Lacy, James (Lisa) Pennington, and Mary Ann (Jeff) Jones; her twin sister, Sue McDaniel Brown, eight grandchildren, Ginger (Gary) Stacks, Jake (Amy) Lacy, Monica Pennington, Jami (Thomas) Langham, Clint Jones, Dillon (Victoria) Jones, Holly Barnett, and Russ Barnett; ten great-grandchildren, Hannah (Jesse) Humbers, Amber (Logan) Humbers, Garrett (Kaitlyn) Stacks, Haiden Lacy, Mason Jones, Marley Jones, Halle Jones, Adalyn Rose Montgomery, Charlie Langham, and Saylor Langham; and three great-great-grandchildren, Zayne Dove, Easton Dove, and Silas Humbers.

The family would like to thank the staff of Generations of Vernon and Amedisys Hospice.
