Leigh H. Pyle, 87, Tuscumbia, passed away on Saturday, December 14, 2024. A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, December 18, at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia, with Barrett Long officiating.
Leigh was a native of England, Arkansas, but called Tuscumbia her home. She was a member of First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia. Leigh enjoyed taking her children and grandchildren to Spring Park and walks downtown. She retired from Deshler High School after working there as a secretary for thirty-five years and served as a Candy Striper at Helen Keller Hospital. Leigh had a love for nature and plants. She enjoyed working in her backyard, where she designed and tended her beautiful gardens. But her favorite thing to do was care for her children and grandchildren whom she considered her most beautiful flowers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Kennedy; parents, Dan and Lucille Halbrook; siblings, Joe Halbrook and Reba Halbrook; and the father of her children, Wyman Pyle.
She is survived by her children, Mark Pyle (Lisa) and Tambra Howard (Rodney); grandchildren, Eric Howard (Michelle), Rachel Knight (Rush), Tyler Pyle (Lauren), and Jacob Thompson (Bridgette); great-grandchildren, Buddy Curtis; Carson, Weston, Wyatt, and Ethan Pyle; Emmie, Eva, and Maverick Howard; and Reese and Rogan Knight; brother, Paul Halbrook; and “sisters”, Martha, Sue, Mary, and Dottie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia, the Tuscumbia Education Foundation, or Pets Are Worth Saving of the Shoals.
