Lee Rush Robbins, age 91, passed away Friday, December 30, 2022 at his home in the Auburn Community. He was born October 26, 1931 in Lee County, the son of Hausie Dearum Robbins and Martha Jane Harris Robbins. Rush was a meter reader for the Mississippi Valley Gas Company for 42 years. He was married 30 years to Jo Nell Kingsley Robbins until her passing in 1983. He later married Vernece Christian Robbins and they shared nearly 25 years together until her death in 2008. Rush loved being outside and was especially fond of gardening, raising vegetables and his prized tomatoes.
He leaves behind his children, Teresa Robbins Clayton and Chuck Christian (Marcy), all of Auburn; his grandchildren, Summer Rupert (Josh), Brandy Estes (Davy), Shawn Clayton (Hillary), Russ Christian (Ashley), and Anna Yant (Jonathon); six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Delbert Robbins (Shirley) and James “Bud” Robbins (Debbie); one sister, Alice Williams (Buddy); three brothers-in-law, Charles Riley, John Sanders, and Mike Kingsley (Charlotte); a special nephew, Robbie Kingsley (Donna); four step-daughters; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Jo Nell; his second wife, Vernece; an infant daughter, Jennifer Lee Robbins; and four sisters, Lola Mae Robbins, Mary Riley, Virginia Buse, and Flora Sanders.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Sunday, January 1, 2023 at Crossroads Cemetery with Rev. Dan Rupert officiating. Pegues Funeral Directors has been entrusted with the arrangements.
