Lealon Strawbridge, 90, passed away on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus. Born in Lamar County on April 23, 1932, he was a son to Elbert Kirk and Vera Cox Strawbridge. In 1973, he married the former Mary Cowart who preceded him in death on March 31, 2023. During the 1950’s, he worked for Earl Frye. Lealon was a long-time Amory businessman, known for his roofing and sheet metal work. In his younger years, he liked to hunt but he also enjoyed watching football and boxing. Lealon was no stranger to hard work, which he enjoyed, but occasionally would play rook or basketball with his family who was his pride. He cherished the time spent with his family especially his grandchildren and his great grandchildren and was proud to have seen 4 generations of his Strawbridge family. He attended First Baptist Church in Aberdeen.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 16, 2023, at Cleveland-Moffett Funeral Home with Bro. James Clardy officiating. Burial will follow in the Haughton Memorial Park.
He is survived by sons, Steve Strawbridge (Leigh Anne), Julian Lee Strawbridge, and Mike Owen (Ginger) all of Amory; daughters, Frances Kay Roberts (Monte) of Smithville, and Becky Ray of Aberdeen; brother, Ed Strawbridge of Sherman; sister, Willideen Reeves of Lamar County, AL; grandchildren, Hattie Smith, Ben Owen, David Wise, Shanna Boydstun, Dianna Kilgore, Steven Austin Strawbridge, Brandon Michael Easter, Kenneth Lealon Roberts, Wesley Ray Roberts, Jared Orion Roberts, Caleb Strawbridge, Chase Strawbridge, Nicole Strawbridge, Elizabeth Strawbridge, Julie Ann Strawbridge, Christy Lee Saunders, and Tracy Wiggins; 8 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary; two sisters, Shirley Davis, and Nell Haney; and by brothers, Fred, James, and Ray Stawbridge.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
Visitation will be on Sunday from noon until service time at the funeral home.
