LAUDERDALE COUNTY-Earlier today, while on patrol, Deputy Adam Meeks attempted a routine traffic stop on a vehicle driven by William Larry Irons in the area of County Road 14 and 81.

Irons refused to stop and led deputies on a 20 minute pursuit at which time Irons left the roadway off of County Road 186 and drove into a wooded area.
Once off-road, Irons reversed his vehicle and rammed the deputy’s patrol car. After a short foot pursuit, and a taser deployment, Irons was taken into custody. A firearm and narcotics were discovered in the vehicle.
