Mr. Lawrence Summerhill, Sr. departed this life May 8, 2013. He was born Jan. 6, 1949, in Florence, Ala. He was a longtime member of Springhill Baptist Church. He attended Waterloo High School. He was a construction worker.
He was preceded in death by a son, Shakim; grandson, Calvin Jr.; granddaughter, Hanysia; and brothers, Hal, Walter and Sherman Summerhill.
He leaves to cherish his memory his wife and best friend of 20 years, Cynthia Brunson Summerhill. He also leaves 11 of 12 children, Bobby, Benjamin, Yohannan (Jennifer), Gregory, Sherwin, Lawrence Jr., Elisheba, Christina, Jasmine, Tonia, Tamie and Jasmine (Tony) Artis. He also leaves behind 16 grandchildren, Benjamin, Omari, Brandon, Carlito, Eli, Nyzier, Xzavion, Jaquon, Chance, Cedric, Shaniya, Skye, Mia, Lazaria, Trinity and Yohannis; three brothers, Willie James, Louis (Theresa) and Ed W. Summerhill; a very special niece, Sona Summerhill; and a host of nieces; nephews; and cousins.
Viewing for Mr. Summerhill will be Friday, May 17th from 1-7 p.m. Services will be Saturday, May 18th at 10 a.m. at Saints Funeral Home in Sheffield
