Lawrence McFirm Poole, Sr. exchanged mortality for immortality on July 28, 2024. The youngest son of Melvin and Carrie Vaughn Poole, Lawrence was born February 2, 1949. Thus, he began his seventy-five year earthly pilgrimage.

Lawrence graduated from West End High School, Cloverdale, Alabama in 1967 where he excelled in academics.

Lawrence accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at Little Zion Missionary Baptist Church, Cloverdale, Alabama. He later joined Tennessee Valley Community Church and Center, Florence, Alabama. During his spiritual walk, he served as an usher and a Samaritan. He was actively involved in the International Council of Community Churches, traveling across country to attend many summer conferences.

On April 7, 1976, Lawrence married Jacqueline Yvonne Watts and celebrated forty-eight years of marriage. They were blessed with four children.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Melvin and Carrie Vaughn Poole; siblings Charles Woods, John Benny Poole, Jimmy Lee Poole, Rachel Poole and Ella Mae Alexander.

Left to cherish his memories is his loving and devoted wife, Jacqueline (Jackie); four children, Yvonne Poole Shaw (Shon), Florence, AL., Lawrence M. Poole, II (LaMima), Muscle Shoals, AL, David Poole (Cielito Almita), Florence, AL, and Jazmon Poole Stallings (Antoine), Marietta, GA.; grandchildren, Cortesa, Keandre, Jaylen, Isaiah, Keira, Gabrielle, and Luka; Great-Grandchildren, Issac, Kobe, and Bella’Re; one sister, Mildred Poole: three brothers-in-laws, Oscar Watts, Jr., David Watts, Willie Jarmon, Sr.; six sisters-in law, Barbara Watts Davis (Edgar), Gail Watts Mullens (Lawrence’s nurse nightingale), Dayle Watts Turner (Jimmy), Sarah Watts Mitchell (Arthur C.), Vivian Poole (Cookie) and Josephine Woods Lovelace; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
