One of the many things that brought Larry joy was his job. He was a truck driver for Jones Logistics where he didn’t have co-workers; he had a work family. If he wasn’t at work, you could find him on the water, out on his land, listening to music, or at church; Larry loved the Lord, and he loved his church and church family. But most often you could find him with his family and friends. His love for others was evident in the way he was always willing to help those in need. His heart was compassionate, and his smile was infectious.
Larry is survived by his mother, Maryann Oswalt of Starkville, one brother Robby Oswalt of Starkville, and two sisters, Tracy Thompson (Donald) of Amory, and Jane Houlk (Billy) of West Point. One son, Eric Oswalt of Starkville, and one daughter, Kristal Miller of Ackerman. His pride and joy were his three grandchildren, Lawri Raegan Miller, Harlyn Kaige Miller and Lexi Alana Miller all of Ackerman. He also leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, his paternal grandparents Urman and Ina Oswalt and his maternal grandparents William and Martha Waggoner.
Pallbearers will be Kaige Miller, Will Houlk, Johnny Brown, Shannon Crowe, Lynn Crowe, and Dale Kornegay.
Honorary pallbearers will be Allen McGee, Tom Craig, JR Craig, and Timmy Kornegay.
When asked to describe Larry, his family chose the following words: “wild man”, “my baby”, “my Larry”, adventurous, awesome, loving pop, my precious daddy, and lastly, selfless. He would give you the shirt off his back without ever expecting anything in return.
Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, October 15, 2023 from 12:30-2:00 p.m. at Self Creek Baptist Church in Maben, MS, with the funeral service immediately following. Rev. Danny Woods will conduct the service. Burial will be in Self Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
