It is with broken hearts that we share words marking the passing of Lavonna “Lynn” Nichols Thomas. After suffering from prolonged illness for many years, Lynn passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, at the age of 63. Now, she is no longer sick. She is no longer suffering. She is whole.
Lynn was born on February 28, 1960, to William E. Nichols and Charity Nichols. She was a self-described tom boy, who grew up with a keen sense of adventure. She loved her horses and was an avid rider for most of her life. She loved to go fishing- just don’t expect her to bait her own hook! She enjoyed traveling and saw much of the Old West, although Belize was her favorite. She spoiled her 4 “puppy dogs” to a fault. You could always find her with a cup of coffee in her hand and the brightest orange fingernails in the salon (the brighter the better!), but most of all, she loved her family.
She is preceded in death by her beloved grandmother, Martha Henry, and her sister that she has missed for so many years, Cindy Gingerich, both of whom she is walking beside in paradise.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 25 years, Lucas Thomas of Carbon Hill; her parents, Bill and Charity Nichols of Parrish, AL; sister, Jenny Miller (Curt) of Panama City, FL; son, Chris Nichols of Jasper; daughter, Lena Nichols Simmons (Layne) of Corner; Minda Farris Rosas (Hiram) of Benque Viejo, Belize; step-daughter, Renea Thomas of Culloden, GA; grandchildren- Chandler and Deason Nichols, Carson and Ava Simmons, Andrew Foster, Katie, Laney and Sophie Boswell; sisters in law, Liz Patton and Pam Marshall, and a host of nieces and nephews. She will be missed tremendously and was gone too soon. Revelation 21:4 “and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; and there will no longer be any death; there will no longer be any mourning, or crying or pain…”
Visitation will be held at Bell Funeral Home in Sumiton, AL on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at 10:00am, with service beginning at 11am in the chapel, and burial to follow at Shanghi Cemetery.
