On September 19, 2020, Lavada Dalton, Loving Mother and friend, passed away at the age of 81. Lavada was born in Attalla, Alabama to Emmitt and Lucille Downs. She attended Birmingham Professional College and enjoyed a long career working for the Government. Lavada married Dave Dalton Sr. and they raised two children together.
Lavada was an active member of Lakewood United Methodist Church; the best mom and grandma a kid could ever imagine; wonderful friend; hard worker; world class cook; giver of hugs; world traveler; staunch Alabama fan; Statler Brothers aficionado; creator of VadaRade and a five-time defeater of cancer.
She is survived by her daughter, Stacey Dalton Rathmann; son, David Dalton and wife, Jennifer; grandchildren, Blaine and Raegan; and sister, Jean Benefield. She was preceded in death by her parents, Emmitt and Lucille, and ex-husband, Dave Dalton Sr.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. to 12 noon Wednesday, September 23rd at Laughlin Service Funeral Home with the service immediately following. Burial will be in Huntsville Memory Gardens. (www.laughlinservice.com)
