FLORENCE – University of North Alabama sophomore Lauren Vance, of Muscle Shoals, has been crowned Miss UNA 2023 at the Miss UNA program, “The Queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll” Saturday evening at Norton Auditorium. Vance will now move on to compete for the title of Miss Alabama. Vance is a Professional Biochemistry major, and she performed a classical piano performance for the talent portion of the program.
Lauren is a sophomore Professional Biochemistry major from Muscle Shoals, Alabama. In the talent portion of the competition, she performed a classical piano performance of “Valse Dramatico”. Lauren is our 49th Miss UNA and will go on to compete in Miss Alabama later this year.
10 candidates competed for the title of Miss UNA in four stages, including interview, on-stage question, talent, and evening ware.
- Mallory Brewer, of Killen, was named first runner-up.
- Caitlin McCrary, of Double Springs, was named second runner-up.
- Maddie Davis, of Cullman, was named third runner-up.
- Mallory Brewer of Jesselin Unger, of Killen and Wetumpka respectively, were named Miss Congeniality.
- Lauren Vance, of Muscle Shoals, was named the Talent Winner
- Caitlin McCray, of Double Springs, was named Outstanding Service Award Winner.
Miss UNA will receive a one-year tuition scholarship as well as a Miss UNA Custom Designed Ring, provided by Creative Jewelers in downtown Florence. Caitlin McCrary, of Double Springs, was the winner of the amethyst and white topaz sterling silver heart necklace for receiving the most votes for her custom ring design.
The Miss UNA program is an official preliminary for the Miss Alabama and Miss America events. The program provides an opportunity for contestants to compete for scholarship funding and prizes.
