Ms. Laura Mae Jones Laura Mae Jones was born March 14,1942 to the late Cora Burney and Robert Jones Jr. of Huntsville, Alabama. She departed this life on September 3, 2023 surrounded by her family at her son’s home in Chesterfield, Missouri.

Laura confessed hope in Christ on August 12,1958 and joined the Saint Mark Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend W.A. Donaldson. She was deeply immersed in the Christian community. She was a member of the Usher Board, Sunday School, Bible Study and Prayer Group for many years.

She graduated from Council Training High School and attended Alabama A&M University, majoring in Business Education. Laura was employed by Farmer Capitol School, Dunlop Tire Plant and the Coop Program of Madison County.

Laura Mae was blessed with a loving and supporting family. She was fortunate to grow up with her two first cousins, Delean Hardin and Girlean Brown. They all remained closely connected throughout the years and shared many memories together. She was blessed to have two sons Craig Jones of Chesterfield, Missouri and Terrell Wayne Jones. She considered it a blessing to be able to watch her family expand over the years. Laura enjoyed being a part of each generation and was willing to share any knowledge and stories. She hoped to pass down family values and memories to the next generations. She was always devoted to her family and friends. She was very much loved and will be deeply missed.

She was proceeded in death by her son, Terrell Wayne Jones. Laura leaves to cherish her memories: a devoted son, Craig Jones of Chesterfield, MO, two grandsons, Craig Jones II of Fort Wayne, IN and Christopher Jones of Atlanta, GA.  Two granddaughters, Shelecia Jones of Indianapolis, IN and Jelecia Jones of Columbia, SC. Three great granddaughters, Terreona Jones of Indianapolis, IN, JayDence Jones and Jaleah Jones of Columbia, SC.  One great grandson Travis Petaway-Jones of Indianapolis, IN, cousins, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Saint Mark Baptist Church (6475 Moores Mills Road, Huntsville, AL 35811) with Pastor Jeremiah Chester officiating. Interment will be in the Valhalla Memory Gardens. Ms. Jones will lie in repose one hour prior to funeral time.

Public viewing will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, September 15, 2023, and 8:30 until 12:00 noon, Saturday, September 16, 2023, at the Royal Funeral Home.
