Laura Antoinette Sutton, age 80, of Rainbow City, Alabama passed away on her 80 birthday, Wednesday, March 6, 2024.

A visitation for Laura will be held Sunday, March 10, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Rainbow Presbyterian Church, 3220 Rainbow Drive, Rainbow City, AL 35906, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 PM. Revs. Ray Turner and Wade Hopper will officiate.

Laura will be laid to rest in Rainbow Memorial Gardens, 1440 W Grand Avenue, Gadsden, AL 35904.

She was a member of Rainbow Presbyterian Church.

She was a member of Rainbow Presbyterian Church. In 1966 she graduated with her B.S. in sociology and psychology from William Carey College in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. In 1969 she graduated with her masters in social work From Louisiana State University. In 1980 she completed a VA social work administrative course at the James A. Haley Medical Center in Tampa, Florida.

Miss Sutton worked for the Alabama Department of Human Services in Calhoun County where she was a caseworker and a supervisor. She was a part-time sociology instructor at Jacksonville State University, worked at the department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Tuscaloosa, AL and was a team leader for multi-disciplinary community-based mental teams.
